I joined HVS right out of college in 2022, and while my day-to-day has changed a lot since then, a few key traits have remained essential for success in this role:

And, of course, the confidence to pick up the phone and make cold calls

Right from the start, I was placed into HVS’s industry-renowned Consulting & Valuation associate training program, which helped me transition smoothly into the professional world. My senior team members didn’t just teach me how to do the job, they supported my career goals beyond the scope of my role. When I expressed an interest in becoming a broker and joining the HVS Brokerage & Advisory division, they listened and helped me work toward that transition.

In August 2023, the opportunity came, and I packed my bags and moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to join the B&A team. Almost two years later, I’ve been promoted to Senior Associate, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and the work we’re doing here. Together, we’ve built a pipeline from the ground up, expanding our market reach, sourcing new deals, and strengthening relationships with clients through strong communication, persistence, and a commitment to excellence.

Each day is different, but my work involves a mix of managing existing listing inquiries, drumming up interest in our listings, constant deal management, and—arguably most importantly—making cold calls to generate new business. We’re backed by HVS’s powerful database and brand recognition, which helps us differentiate ourselves and deliver real value to our clients.

Strong communication is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it's taking time for in-person meetings with clients, attending local trade shows, or flying out to national conferences, I believe these face-to-face interactions build trust in a way that emails and calls simply can't. Staying visible and present in the market helps us better understand our clients’ goals and the nuances of different submarkets. Just as importantly, it allows us to continuously expand our network—meeting new owners, operators, and investors who may become future clients. In this industry, relationships are everything, and I make it a priority to keep growing and nurturing them every step of the way.
